Friday Link Love: Social Media Week Edition

Once again, it’s Social Media Week here in New York and other locations across the globe. Our folks at the Kaplan Thaler Group have been checking in at a number of the events throughout the week. And that means all things “social” are top of mind.

· Valentines Day went viral this year, thanks to a unique proposal to Mashable editor, Stacy Green, whose now-fiance popped the question in the form of an infographic.

· Facebook has long implemented a stringent “real name” policy. But, now that users can subscribe to other accounts, inTwitter-like fashion, the rules are beginning to bend—for celebrities, that is. The New York Times reports on the recent tweaks.

· For years, Twitter has been a hotbed for journalists. And now, it’s being used to make news…by robots. All Things D’s Peter Kafka reports on the rise of the robot writer.

· Many believe that mobile technology will one day replace the traditional wallet, letting you pay, use coupons, and get discounts all from one device. But, could it also be the ID of the future? If this New York restaurant critic’s experience is any indication, the answer could be, yes.
